Economy Minister Axel Kicillof warned against “local vultures” and said that the government is “closely monitoring” business leaders to make sure they “do not take advantage of the vulture funds dispute”.
“The situation with vulture funds is very serious and complex,” Kicillof said and warned against “local vultures".
“The government is actively working to prevent the loss of jobs. The government is doing its part and we want business leaders to do theirs,” the minister said in an interview with a local radio station.
Kicillof referred to the head of Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Héctor Méndez, who has been quoted as saying the vulture funds dispute may cause job losses in Argentina. “I ask industrial workers for responsibility,” he said, “If they want to work, the government has its doors open. But don’t go to the newspapers, as Méndez did”.
“Enough of cheap maneuvers over the debt negotiation. We are dealing with the vulture funds here, who seem to be partners with [US Judge Thomas Griesa’s] Court,” Kicillof said.
