Buenos Aires Merval dips after Scioli's announcement
The Merval benchmark stock index was falling 1.5 percent today at early trading, pushed down mainly by financial and energy companies.
The Merval reached 11.095 points one day after Buenos Aires Governor Daniel Scioli picked Carlos Zannini as his running-mate for this year's elections.
Shares of Sociedad Comercial del Plata plunged 6.6 percent, Pampa Energía dropped 4 percent, Edenor 3.8 percent, Siderar 3.4 percent and YPF 2.7 percent.
Banks were also weaker led by Grupo Financiero Galicia which lost 5.5 percent, and followed by Banco Macro (-5 percent) and Banco Francés (-4,5 percent).
Argentine bonds were falling 1.3 percent.
