Kicillof confirms Pollack meeting without holdouts
Economy minister Axel Kicillof has confirmed that Argentina would enter talks with mediator Daniel Pollack over the legal battle currently raging between the nation and holdout investors known as 'vulture funds', while clarifying that those hedge funds would not be present.
The minister also asserted that the team to be sent to New York was still to be decided.
"The delegation has not been defined," he told reporters at a press conference convened following his presentation today before the Organisation of American States (OAS).
"This will not be a meeting with the other side, it will be a meeting with Mr Pollack."
Lawyer Pollack, who was designated by judge Thomas Griesa to mediate negotiations between Argentina and 'vulture fund' holdout investors, had earlier revealed that talks between himself and the nation would begin next week, through a statement.
The release states that the official today "confirmed that the New York attorneys for the Republic of Argentina, Cleary Gottlieb, have advised him that a delegation of high-level Government officials will travel to New York City to meet with Mr. Pollack on Monday, July 7."
"The delegation will include the following Government officials: the Subprocurador del Tesoro de la Nacion [Javier Pargament]; the Secretario de Finanzas (Finance Secretary) del Ministerio de Economia [Pablo López] and the Secretario Legal y Administrativo del Ministerio de Economia [Federico Thea]," the missive further affirmed.
