Macri: 'We have to work to recover international markets'
President Mauricio Macri today headed a rally in the Santa Fe province locality of Venado Tuerto to announce projects aimed at boosting the dairy sector.
Macri introduced a commitment agreement signed between the Ministry of Agriculture commanded by Ricardo Buryaile and the provinces that are part of the Federal Dairy Council, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos.
The agreement involves loans with subsidized rates in a move to speed up market access for those farmers that are in a tough economic situation.
“We have fortunately decided to work together,” the head of state said. “My dream is that we take the best cheese in the Río de la Plata to the world adding value to your primary production,” he said.
"We have to work to recover all export markets possible,” he affirmed also praising the meeting he held on Thursday with the president of Uruguay Tabaré Vázquez, both leaders discussing bilateral projects to improve the port and navigating situation in bordering Uruguay River as well as other key issues.
Macri landed in Santa Fe as an ongoing manhunt continues in that province to find the three fugitives that escaped from the Buenos Aires province prison of General Alvear two weeks ago.
Venado Tuerto is 300 km away from the area where security agents where searching for Martín and Christian Lanatta and Víctor Schillaci.
Minister of Agriculture, Stockbreeding and Fishing Ricardo Negri, Deputy Secretary of Dairy Alejandro Sammartino and leaders of the sector’s companies were joining the president in the Venado Tuerto rally.
