Macri vows to fix income, export taxes
In his first press conference one day after being elected Argentina’s new president, Mauricio Macri stressed that “when Argentina is ordered and returns to a growth path, a unique exchange rate will be implemented.”
From La Usina del Arte art centre, where Macri this morning addressed national and international journalists, he repeated that during his administration he plans to correct the income tax scheme for it to be “fair” again and insisted that the dollar clamp must be eliminated.
“To acknowledge what we have inherited we must know which the true numbers of economy are,” the PRO leader added and warned “we don’t know how much the Central Bank reserves total.”
"The Central Bank’s measure on Friday was surprising for everyone. There is a problem with reserves no matter what the government says,” Macri pointed out. He was referring to a Central Bank measure which forced banks to lower their assets in US dollars from 15 percent to five percent.
Asked about his plans on the agricultural sector, he said he will implement policies “from the first day.” These include the elimination of export taxes, and to work closely with the regional economies.
