Canada to allocate Ukraine $50 mln - Ambassador
KYIV, March 28 /Ukrinform/. Canada plans to allocate Ukraine additional $50 million of financial assistance.
Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"I think that in the next fiscal year, starting in April, we will allocate an additional $50 million. The rest will depend on development of the situation in Ukraine," he said.
The diplomat also said that if the truce in Donbas is broken, the Canadian authorities would be willing to consider different options for assistance to Ukraine.
Waschuk added that Canada does not supply lethal weapons to Ukraine. "Firstly, we, as NATO ally closely integrated with our North American neighbors, wish to act in consensus," he stressed. "Secondly, we consider the second stage of the Minsk agreements."
According to the ambassador, it is not a good time for arms supply now, during a truce.
