Rodrígo Cabezas, Venezuelan lawmaker before the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino), advocated an increase in oil production to six million barrels per day by 2019.
"If we were producing such quantity, we would have wider leeway," Cabezas commented in an interview with Noticiero Venevisión.
Cabezas added, though, that the country is going through a difficult and complex economic situation that should be taken as an opportunity to discuss the need to overcome dependence on oil revenues.
As to the recent extension of US sanctions against Venezuelan current and former officials, Cabezas described the move as unilateral sanctions preventing the resumption of good relations between the two nations.
