Greece pays Finland collateral
Greece has paid Finland a total of 311 million euros in collateral for participation in its bailout fund. Finance Minister Jutta Urpilainen made the announcement on Friday at the meeting of the Parliamentary Grand Committee.
Urpilainen added Finland had agreed with Greece and a British legal office that parts of the collateral deal can be published.
Finland will receive a total of 925 million euros in collateral under the terms of the agreement. Urpilainen says the cash will be invested in bonds issued by the five nations with the highest credit rating.
A Finnish-language version of the agreement will be published next Monday but without the names of the Greek banking institutions involved.
The controversial deal between the two countries came after Finland demanded collateral in return for participation in the Greek bailout fund.
