In reference to the executive order signed by US President Barack Obama declaring Venezuela a threat to the US national security, Venezuelan Minister of Petroleum and Mining Asdrúbal Chávez stressed that Venezuela exports around 870,000 crude oil barrels per day (bpd) to the United States.

Additionally, Chávez stated that Venezuela will continue selling both crude oil and by-products to the United States. However,  he warned, should the US government adopt measures lashing the local oil market, "we (the Venezuelan government) are prepared to reply and place our products in third markets."

State-run oil holding company Petróleos de Venezuela "(Pdvsa) has our oil markets completely diversified, conquering spaces in Asia, India, Europe, South America, among others, (a market) with possibilities to expand," the official said.

Finally, he remarked that the said executive order grants the US government broad legal authority to make any decision and the Venezuelan government is prepared to face it.
