'Vulture Funds' receive no word from Argentine government
The holdout investors demanding full payment of Argentine bonds in default have claimed they have not been in contact with the Argentine government about possible negotiations following the US Supreme Court judgement, according to sources from the so-called 'vulture funds'.
"A dialogue has still not opened up with Argentina. The Argentine lawyers made that declaration to the court but the government is yet to make contact," news agency EFE heard from Stephen Spruiell, spokesman for the hedge funds' legal representatives.
The representative added that the only news they have received from the government has come from the press conference given today by Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich, in which he informed that at the moment no Argentine delegation is scheduled to travel to New York in order to meet with judge Thomas Griesa, who has ruled in favour of the hedge funds on multiple occasions in their fight to receive full payment on the defaulted bonds.
The Argentine government's lawyer, Carmine Bocuzzi, assured yesterday in court that the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration was to begin talks with creditors before June 30, the date set by Griesa for the payment of 1.3 billion dollars to the plaintiffs.
