CFK, Putin hail joint efforts against 'vultures'
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
President Cristina Kirchner held a videoconference with her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin marking the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both nations. The leaders praised the joint position held in the UN against actions by so called “vulture” funds.
“You fought for the interests of Argentina in the financial debates. Russia supported the resolution. We shared your firm position and your integrity against speculative funds that are only based in rulings by US tribunals,” Ms. Kirchner said today in reference to the recent resolution approved by the United Nations General Assembly in favour of a new global framework for sovereign debt restructuring.
Cristina Kirchner hailed the UN voting so that “the world leaves speculation and resumes production as the true engine for development,” considering Buenos Aires-Moscow ties “an example to take to the world,” with the future president of Argentina to be elected on Sunday “continuing strengthening this integration.”
“Associations like the ones we have established between Argentina and Russia are a model to take to the world which till now has been divided in accepting the most powerful or succumbing. That has ended, there are new possibilities now.”
That, she said, “who will win the elections will continue strengthening this integration, because he is convinced there is a different world, with new partners as important as the rest when (ties) are transformed into concrete investments," alluding to the Victory Front (FpV) presidential candidate, Daniel Scioli.
The last meeting held between Ms. Kirchner and Putin took place in April this year when the Argentine leader visited Moscow for the signing of energy bilateral agreements.
