After a month of absence from government activity due to a medical condition, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner resumed public duties with an address to the Argentine Construction Chamber convention at the Sheraton Hotel, Buenos Aires City.
In her first speech in 26 days, the head of state reviewed her government’s achievements and remarked the measures taken in social inclusion and public spending. Later she addressed the vulture funds.
“No vulture or troublemaker will extort this President”, Fernández de Kirchner affirmed, in a clear reference to the holdouts and judge Thomas Griesa, the US Magistrate in charge of the case whose ruling forced the country into a technical default.
“The [debt] business is not letting a country grow but to indebt itself. I think it is very important to achieve an agreement but under a legal form and without blackmail,” she added.
Cristina turned the spotlight on opposition parties and urged them to unveil “how we will invest in productive projects without charging taxes.".
According to the President, “politics must not be a place of [empty] promises but a place of coherence between what one says and one do, but above all, it has to bring certainty into the economic activity and the people.”
Earlier, the head of state led several video conferences with locations across the country, including Puerto Madryn in Chubút province, Curuzú Cuatiá (Corrientes) and Tigre, where Transport and Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo awaited, as he inaugurated the new Mitre railway formations.
“We have fulfilled our promises as we have done with all our commitments. We ask you to take care of them,” Fernández de Kirchner urged those present for her address.

Fernádez de Kirchner was forced to take a rest from official duties and spent several days in hospital after doctors detected a bacterial infection in her colon.
