Industrial activity falls 1.8% in September
Industrial activity dropped 1.8 percent in Sept.
According to the INDEC statistics bureau, industrial activity dropped 1.8 percent in September compared to the same month of 2013.
This is the 14th consecutive month that registers a negative inter-annual variation. Considering the first nine months of 2014, industrial activity fell 2.7%.
Meanwhile, taking into account the fluctuation between September and August, the Monthly Industrial Index published by INDEC recorded a 0.3% loss.
The automobile sector again dragged the index down, falling 19.7% in September compared to the same month last year, and accumulating a 23.2% loss in 2014.
Plastic production (5.4%), oil refinement (3.9%), editing and printing (2.1%) and the textile industry (1.7%) also showed negative numbers.
On the other hand, chemical products production (7.7%), tobacco production (6.2%), metal-mechanic production (5%), construction goods (3.5%), paper and cardboard production (1.6%) metal industry (1.2%) and foods and beverages (0.3%) all grew in September, year-on-ye
