AGREEMENT
BETWEEN T H E GOV ERN M E N T OF TH E H ELLENIC R EP UBL IC AND
THE G O V E R N M E N T OF THE CZECH AND SLOVAK F E DE RAL R E P U B L I C
FOR T H E PR OMO TIO N AND R ECIPROCAL P R O T E C T I O N OF
INVESTMENTS.

The Government of the Hellenic Republic and the G o v e r n m e n t of
the Czech and. Slov ak F e d e r a 1 Re pub I i c
Hereinafter re f e r r e d to as the C ontracting Parties«
DESIRING to int ensify their economic coo per ati on to the mutual
benefit of bo th countries on a long term basis,
HAVING as their objective to create favourable c o n d i t i o n s for
investments by investors of eith er Party in the t e r r i t o r y of
the other Party,
RECOGNIZING that the promotion and pro tection of investments,
on the basis of the present Agreement, will sti mul ate the initiative
in this field.
HAVE AGREED AS FOLLOWS


ARTICLE 1
Definitions
For the purposes of this Agreement
1. "Investment" means eve ry kind of asset and in particular,
though not exclusively, includes :
a) movable and immovable property and any other pr o p erty
rights such as mortgages, liens or pledges,
b) shares in and stock and debentures of a company and
any other form of participation in a company,
c) loans, claims to money or to any p erformance under
contract having a financial value,
a) intellectual property rights, goodwill technical
processes and k n o w—how,
e) bus iness con cessions conferred by law or under contract,
including concessions to search for c u 11i —
vate. extract or exploit n a t u r a 1 r e s o u r c e s .
2. "Returns" means the amounts yielded by an investment and
in particular, tho u g h not exclusively, includes profit,
interest, capital gains, d i v i a e n d s , roy alties and other
fees :
3. "Investor" shall comprise with regard to either C o n t r a c t ing
Party
a) natural persons having the nationality of that Contracting
Party in accordance with its law
b) legal persons constituted in accordance with
the law of that Contracting Party.
4. "Territory" means in respect of ei ther C ontract i ng P a r t y .

sea and sub marine areas, over which that Contracting
Party exercises. in conformity w i t h international
law, sovereign rights or j u r i s t i c t i o n ,

tacitly for periods of 10 years, each C o n t r a c t i n g P a r t y
r e s erving the right to t e r m i n a t e the A g r e e m e n t upon
notice of at least s i x mont h s before the d a t e of e x p i r y
of the cur r e n t period of validity.
3. In res p e c t of i nvestments m a d e p rior to t h e d a t e of the
t e r m i n a t i o n of this Agreement the f o r e g o i n g Articles,
s h a l 1 c ontinue to be effective for a f u r t h e r p e r i o d of 10
years from that d a t e .
